Calculate your TDEE as a hiker. See how many calories hiking burns and get nutrition targets for day hikes and multi-day treks.
Hiking burns 400–700 calories per hour depending on terrain, elevation gain, pack weight, and pace. A full day hike (6–8 hours) can burn 2,500–5,000+ calories. For regular hikers (2–3 times/week), select "Moderate" or "Active." On hiking days, additional carbs are essential for sustained energy.

The calories burned during hiking depend on intensity, duration, and your body weight. On average, a 70kg person burns 300–800 calories per hour. Use a higher activity level in the calculator if you do hiking regularly (3+ times per week).
If you do hiking 1–3 times per week, choose "Light" or "Moderate." For 4–6 sessions per week, choose "Active." If you train daily or have a physical job on top of hiking, choose "Very Active." When in doubt, go one level lower.
A rough estimate is 300–500 extra calories per hour of hiking beyond your normal TDEE. For a full-day hike, you might need 1,500–3,000 extra calories. Focus on carb-rich snacks during the hike and protein-rich recovery meals after.
